This engaging portrait is all the more charming for its lack of formality and the warmth and openness of Molly's gaze. Little is known of the sitter identified by the inscription.

Daniel Pender Davidson (1885-1933) was born in Camelon, Scotland. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art and later in Munich and Brussells.
